As I was walking all alone
I saw twa corbies making moan
And one unto the other did say
Where shall we gang and dine today?

Well down behind yon old foul dyke
There lies the body of a fresh slain knight
And nobody kens that he lies there
Save his hawk and his hound and his lady fair

The hawk has to the hunting gone
His hound to fetch the wild foul home
His lady's taken another mate
So we may make our dinner sweet

And you'll sit on his white breast bone
And I'll pick out his bonny blue eyes
And with a lock of his golden hair
We'll thatch our nest when it grows bare

There's one for him makes moan
But nobody kens where he has gone
And through his bones when they are bare
The wind shall blow forevermore
